My Style? Dopamine Dressing

by - 8:06:00 AM

I’ve always dressed to express.

My clothes were my language.
My outfit was the caption to whatever season of life I was in.
Some days bold, other days soft. Sometimes chaotic, other times intentionally composed.

Each look was a love letter to a feeling I couldn’t explain out loud.

So, what is dopamine dressing?

It’s not a science rulebook. It’s a feeling.

Dopamine dressing is the idea of wearing clothes that spark joy and energy. Outfits that lift your mood just by putting them on.

For some people, it’s bold prints.
For others, it’s comfy layers, cozy neutrals, or a favorite accessory that feels like armor.

For me?
It's color, textures, patterns, and pieces that make me feel alive — even on days when I’m barely holding it together.

Fashion has always been personal

As a mom, as a woman navigating mental health, and as someone who’s learning to take up space unapologetically — dressing in a way that reflects my joy (or reminds me it’s still in there) is healing.

For me, dressing up isn’t about impressing anyone — it’s about communicating something from me.

A layered skirt over pants? That’s me showing I don’t follow the rules.
A fitted corset belt with soft fabrics? That’s me exploring strength and softness side by side.
A pair of oversized sunglasses or platform sandals? That’s my reminder that I’m allowed to take up space.

Clothes help me say what my heart sometimes can’t

I’ve dressed to cope.
I’ve dressed to heal.
I’ve dressed to show up as the version of me I wanted to believe in, even when I didn’t fully feel her yet.

My style has always been a reflection of my journey — as a woman, a mom, a creator, and someone who continues to grow through every color, every texture, every unexpected outfit choice.

I realized it late, but now I own it

Now I know — I’ve been dressing to express all along.

I don’t need permission to be loud with my style.
To mix and match.
To wear something simply because it feels like me.

For women like me—who carry quiet struggles and loud dreams—fashion becomes more than fabric.

It’s storytelling.
It’s therapy.
It’s joy in motion.

Some days it’s layers on layers, with big accessories and bold shoes.
Other days it’s soft, delicate textures with a quiet kind of strength.
Sometimes it’s chaotic, mismatched, and raw — because that’s where I’m at emotionally, and I’m not hiding it.

This is more than fashion. This is emotional. This is creative. This is me.

What’s your style?

Is it the outfit you always wear when you need a confidence boost?
Is it that shade of lipstick that makes you feel like you again?
Is it a look no one understands but makes you feel whole?

That’s your style.

It’s not about trends or rules.
It’s about how you feel.
What brings you back to yourself.

What’s my style?

My style is personal. Messy. Mood-driven. Honest. Brave. Playful. Real.
It’s mine — and it doesn’t need to be one thing.

And maybe yours doesn’t either.

And if my style tells a story — it says this:
I’ve survived. I’ve felt deeply. And I’ve chosen to show up in color anyway.
